Welcome to The First Step Play Group!
We are a leading provider of grown-up-and-me classes that offer a fun-filled and age-appropriate introduction to school and learning for children ages 12-30 months. Our one-hour sessions allow children to engage in a variety of activities, including art, story time, movement, circle time, specialized play centers, sensory exploration, snack time, and music. Our experienced teachers create a nurturing environment where children can learn and grow through play and interactive experiences.

She holds a Master's degree in Education and has New York State special and general education teaching credentials from the prestigious Bank Street College of Education in New York. Sara received extensive trai
Sara is a highly experienced child development and behavior specialist, with over 15 years of working with children and parents. She holds a Master's degree in Education and has New York State special and general education teaching credentials from the prestigious Bank Street College of Education in New York. Sara received extensive training in infant and parent development and early intervention during her time at Bank Street. Prior to joining The First Step Play Group, Sara taught at renowned preschools in Los Angeles and New York City. She also worked as a special educator for the National Institute for People with Disabilities. Sara brings her expertise as a parenting group leader, private tutor, consultant, and special educator to our program. Being a mother of three children herself, Sara personally understands the challenges and joys of parenting, which allows her to connect with parents on a deeper level.

Ali is an experienced early childhood educator who has been working with children and parents for over 15 years. She holds a Masters's degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education and New York state teaching credentials from Hunter College School of Education. Ali's passion for teaching and working with young children led her to teach at a private nursery school in New York City and a public school kindergarten classroom. After gaining valuable experience in the classroom, Ali transitioned to private tutoring and began leading multiple local mommy and me playgroups. Her goal is to instill a love of learning in children and promote developmental milestones through play. As a mother of two children, Ali brings a deep understanding of the joys and challenges of early childhood, allowing her to create meaningful connections with both children and parents.
